Kate Domaille (2001):
She believes that all media texts fit under 8 different narrative types:
1) Achilles- A fatal flaw in the narrative.2) Candide- Hero's that cannot be put down.
3) Cinderella- All dreams come true.
4) Circe- The innocent and the victim.
5) Faust- The selling of a soul the devil. 'I'll give you something in the future for the exchange of your soul'
6) Orpheus- The loss of something personal.
7) Romeo & Juliet- The love story.
8) Triston & Iseult- The love triangle.
Maroon 5/ Misery fits under the narrative types as the Romeo and Juliet. It is the typical love story scenario as they are both in love but things go wrong in their relationship and they go through a break up. The male (Adam Levine) is still madly in love with the girl but she is proving stubborn and playing him in a violent way, and she is torturing him and making him feel down. She is dominant, and is trying to kill him throughout whilst doing this she is also teasing him.
