CONVENTIONS OF A POP DIGI-PACK

As my music video is going to be based around the pop genre because the song originates from the pop genre, my digi-pack will need to conform to the conventions of a pop digi-pack. There is certain aspects of a pop digi-pack that may not be included in other genre or won't be used as frequently. I have done some research in to what is typical of the pop genre and what these artists would include in/and or their CD/album covers, what is expected to be seen in s pop genre digi-pack is typically:

  • Bright and bold colours which create a light and happy mood.
  • The use of medium-close ups to reinforce the bright costumes worn by artists/ their makeup styles.
  • The artists usually wear clothing which is fashionable to the time period the album is released.
  • High lighting to set the mood for the song.
  • The artist is always featured in an over-exaggerated manner in pop digi-packs.
  • Song lyrics are always present in the inside of the album.
  • The albums are usually of an individual style.
  • The album reflects what the artists are experiencing at the time of the album release.
Below are a few images/ examples of pop digi-packs and how they conform to the points made above:

As you can see all of these digi-packs which were created by a mixture of different pop artists all have a similar theme running through them. They're all very bright, colourful and displays the artists in an exaggerated manner which makes them look different to real life. This sells as consumers see the artists as role models/idols they want to be like them. They buy their albums to get a feel for their music and usually love and listen to this particular genre.
