Technologies used to create my music video:

Technologies used in the making of my digipack:
- Blogger- I used blogger again when creating my digipack because I had to upload my finished product to blogger and had to use it to put all my digipack research on to it, It was great when uploading all my work because it let me store it all in one place and keep it organised.
- Adobe Template- I used adobe template as the software to creating my digi-pack it let me display the net and template for the construction and view it ready to edit. It was all negatives with this software because it was easy to load and worked fast.
- Photoshop- Photoshop was the main software used when constructing my digipack I used this because I was familiar with it from my first year. I could upload the template to photoshop and edit on top of it, I also used it to edit the images I used on my digipack. I used the clone tool a lot because it gave my images a sort of bubble effect around it. Photoshop was great in the construction because I already knew how it worked and how to use it, so I could get on with it with no additional problems. The only problem I faced was I didn't layer my digipack properly so when I deleted some parts of it, it deleted some other constructs I had created.
- Camera/Phone- I used the camera on my phone in the planning and research part of my digipack to take raw photos and some potential photos to use on my digipack. The problems I faced is that some of the lighting wasn't amazing so some of my photos appeared dark and not effective. But the positives are that I took a lot of photos and I had a few decent photos that I could edit and decided to use on my digipack.
- Powerpoint-I used powerpoint a lot during the planning and research stage of making my digipack. I used Powerpoint so I could convert the files in to a JPEG format and upload them to my blog, it is easy to add photos to it and explain what I've done. Powerpoint is such a reliable software and I use it a lot to make my information look presentable.
- USB- I relied heavily on my USB because it is a very useful piece of hardware. I have an 8GB one which allowed me to store a lot of my work in one place and I saved my digipack and all of the research to go with it on my USB. I had a problem because by accident at one point I formatted my media USB which caused me to lose a lot of work which wasn't recoverable, so I had to start again. and USB's are so small they are so easy to lose.
- Final cut- I used final cut once I had finished my digipack to put together a video of the process of the construction of my digipack.
- Snipping tool- I used the snipping tool to screenshot different sections of my digipack this is effective because I can take as many screenshots as I'd like and it saves to my computer.
- Computer- I didn't use a mac when creating my digipack, I used a normal computer that had photoshop on it. I found this easier to use because all the keys and controls are the same because on the macs some keys are different which makes it difficult to construct.
- Emaze- I used emaze because it is a good presentation software to display my work in a different way which isn't boring. I use it because it looks professional but is also fun to use because it makes powerpoint slides more interesting instead of plain and boring.
- Dafont.com- I used Dafont.com which is an online website which lets you view lots of different fonts that you can download and use. I used the fonts on this website to put on my digipack it took me a while to get a font I wanted that reflected my pop genre.
Above is the video I created on final cut which shows the process of making me digipack and putting it together. As I screenshotted the images straight from photoshop you can see the different tools I used and it gives evidence of the technology I used to finish it.
Technologies used in the making of my music advertisement:
Below is evidence of the process of making my music advert using the technologies discussed. I screenshot my process on Photoshop and the different tools I used.
Technologies used when constructing my product evaluation:
Above are two videos I did of myself explaining the different technologies I used when I produced my full product and coursework evaluation. I have stated the Software and Hardware and why I used them, the difficulties faced at the positives to using them.
A few more technologies I forgot to mention within my videos was:
- Youtube- I used Youtube when constructing my product evaluation because I recorded myself in a video answering the question and I had to upload the video on to Youtube to be able to post it on Blogger. I had a few issues with this regarding the Wifi strength as it struggled to upload. Also the videos wouldn't process and a message kept appearing saying that an error had occurred. But, in the end my videos uploaded to Youtube and I could share them to blogger.
- Phone- I also used my mobile phone in my evaluation process because I had to use the video part of my phone to record some videos of me speaking for my evaluation. This was good because it allowed me to record myself personally and get everything I wanted in to one video, a negative is the quality of video reduced when it was uploaded to my blog.
Tutorials I used when creating my Music Video, Digipack & Music advert:
- When creating my music video (using final cut) digipack & music advert I used Youtube to watch some tutorials that could help me with constructing my products. The tutorials helped because they gave me an insight in to how to use the different software, there was also some negatives because some of the videos was slightly complicated which made them difficult to follow.
Advert:
Digipack:
I didn't use any Youtube tutorials when it came to creating my digipack I just did it from scratch on Photoshop because of past experiences on Photoshop I constructed my digipack without any tutorial help.
Music Video / Final Cut:
What went well overall in the construction of my music video and ancillary texts?
I believe that most of all the whole construction process went really well. I think the construction of my ancillary texts was the best part for me, I believe this was because I had already had previous experience on Photoshop so I knew how to edit on that software and how it worked. I also believe that the whole research and planning stage for all of my products was effective because I used different technologies throughout to explore different media forms and make my products look as realistic as possible.
What do I think didn't go so well when constructing my music video and ancillary texts?
I think the part that didn't go so well for me when constructing my music video was the fact that I had problems with the MAC computers because when you upload video footage on a specific mac on final cut it then stays on that specific mac and you cannot open your music video on any other computer, this became a very large issue for me because it reduced the time I could spend editing because there was often other students on the mac I used so this caused an issue when trying to edit. Also I think that the weather ruined my chances of my music video being to the best of my ability because I made the concious decision to have an outside music video but whenever I decided to film it rained and I couldn't take some Hardware (Cameras, phones, tripods) outside in this weather because they would become damaged or become a danger like I previously explained in my health and safety grid.
If I could re-construct my products, what would I do differently?
If I could do some things differently I would improve my time management and work effectively in the time frame given and work to this to make sure my products are to the best of my ability. I would try and research a way in which I can gather my video footage and be able to move it on to different mac's so if the one I edit on isn't available I can edit on another computer. I would also research in to a lot more existing products to make mine more realistic.
